Collaboration Keeps Cardinal Glennon Families on the Right Path

SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center recently completed a 130,000-square-foot expansion, adding a new tower for its Dana Brown Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, ten state-of-the art surgical suites and future Dallas Heart Center.

With all that new space, Cardinal Glennon needed an integrated wayfinding system to help families easily navigate the facility and reach their desired destination. The medical center enlisted the help of DesignStudioOne interior designer Dianne Stitzlein, who developed a system of colors, signs and kiosks to help visitors find their way.

Ervin Marketing Creative Communications worked closely with Dianne to create a take-along visitors’ map, using the graphic elements designed for the wayfinding system. The collaboration is evident in the final piece, which uses colors and icons pulled from the interior signage to help visitors locate popular areas throughout the facility.

"It was a pleasure to work with Dianne on this project," says Ervin Marketing Creative Director Erica Schwan. "The graphic direction she had established for the interior design really translated well into this printed piece. And her knowledge of the hospital layout was instrumental in helping us create a map that’s clear and easy to follow."

Here you can see how the map and interior signage work together as a completely integrated wayfinding system at Cardinal Glennon.
